Beginners Guide to Smoking Cannabis
Blueberry kush? Purple kush? Lemon haze? Northern lights?Sometimes speaking about cannabis can feel like a foreign language and it can be hard to figure out where to even start. We have put together a beginners guide to smoking cannabis to help you through this process.
Indica vs. Sativa
Let’s briefly talk about the difference between the various kinds of cannabis plants.
Cannabis Indica is characterized by wide, broad leaves that grow short, tight, and overlapped. Indica plants are a darker green and are known to give a relaxed and calming sensation.
Cannabis sativa is characterized by narrow leaflets that grow tall and spaced out. Sativa plants are a lighter tone of green and produce fewer buds. The known effects with this plant are more of a creative and uplifting spark.
A hybrid plant is a crossbreed of both and can either lean more on the Indica side or more on the Sativa.
Now choosing between those three options is the first step in making your first purchase which is a lot easier than you think. The main question you must ask yourself is this “What do I intend to use cannabis for?”.
If you plan on staying inside and watching movies curled up on the couch, Indica is a better option for youIndica = In Da Couch.
If you plan on hanging out beside the pool for the afternoon, Sativa would be great for that!Sativa= Sunny Sativa.
ABC’s of Cannabis
Regardless of if you choose Indica or Sativa it’s important that you pick something sitting at a lower THC percentage. Our #1 motto is GO LOW & SLOW! Meaning after you pick a low THC strain, take one puff then wait and see how you feel. Always make sure you are in a safe environment and do not planning on driving later that night.
Now what is THC?
THC (Tetrahydrocanabinol) is responsible for the psychoactive part of consuming cannabis, basically the part that gets you high. The higher the THC percentage the higher the buzz.
CBD (Cannabidiol) has a less psychoactive effect. With roots traced back to 2500 BC, CBD has been used for natural purposes for centuries.
Method of consumption
Now that you have decided on the perfect strain you must decide how you are going to smoke the cannabis. For first time smokers, its best to purchase a pre rolled joint since already rolled up and all you really need is a lighter.
If you have smoked a joint once before and wanted to try something new, a pipe would be a great option for that. Simply place the ground bud in the bowl piece, light, and inhale. There may be a hole on the side of your pipe which would need to be covered with your finger as you inhale. Ask your local bud tender for a deeper explanation of a pipe in store, we would be glad to help with any questions you may have.
Just remember GO LOW AND SLOW
